Switchback Seat Back ReplacementUpdated 6 months ago

REPAIR GUIDE

UPDATED JUNE 2024

Required Tools

  • #2 Phillips screwdriver
  • #1 Phillips screwdriver or other rod tool with less than 3/16" diameter (for rubber dampeners)

Procedure

/01:  Rotate the rubber dampener boot so that the holes on each side are aligned to face the side of the seat.

/02:  Insert the screw driver into either one of the boot holes and push the pin inside through the opposite side. You may need to move or stretch the boot a bit to get the pin to align with the exit hole.

/03:  Pull the frame away from the seatback. Note the boot may slip off, put aside for later re-install.

/04:  Remove the seatback pad by pulling off at the small grommets around the edge, there's 6

/05:  Remove the back rest harnesses. Pull the circular buckle part away from the seat back and then pull it through the slit using the belt. It may take a bit of force and it is normal for the circular part to momentarily deform to pass through.

/06:  Repeat with the lower square buckles

/07: Remove the 2x screws on each side of the seat back.

/08: Pull the area where the screw was towards the center of the seat to allow the seat boss to come out of its socket. The seat should be free now.

/09: Re-assemble in reverse order with the new seatback.

Note: It may take some effort to slide the harness buckles through their perspective slits. You may need to shake/wiggle the assemblies to help guide the pins back into the rubber dampners. Once the pin is inside press on both sides until it feels centered.
