Using your Switchback Infant Soft Insert
+−
Follow these steps to safely install the Infant Soft Insert in the Switchback Seat. Always lock the rear wheels before placing or adjusting your infant.
Age & fit guide
The Infant Soft Insert is designed for use from birth. It wraps your newborn with extra cushioning and a snug, supportive fit inside the Switchback Seat.
The wedge angles the seat to a safe semi-reclined position for newborns. Use it from birth until your infant reaches 3 months old or begins to sit upright on their own — whichever comes first.
The full insert (without the wedge) continues to provide side and head support for older infants. Remove the insert entirely once your child can sit upright comfortably without assistance.
After the insert is removed, the Switchback Seat is ready to use on its own.

Lock rear wheels
Press gently on the brake pedal to lock the rear wheels before placing your infant in the seat.
Green indicator = locked. Red = unlocked.

Place wedge in Switchback seat
For infants, place the wedge in the Seat before adding the Infant Soft Insert. The wedge supports a semi-reclined position for newborns.
Remove the wedge when your infant reaches 3 months old or begins to sit upright.

Add Infant Soft Insert
Place the Infant Soft Insert in the Seat and align the slots with the seat bottom, waist, and shoulder straps.

Position seat harness
Pull the seat bottom, waist, and lowest shoulder straps through the Infant Soft Insert slots, then adjust to fit comfortably.
All straps should pass cleanly through their respective slots with no twisting.

Install headrest
Slip the straps on the back of the headrest around the shoulder harness and snap tight to secure.
Give the headrest a gentle tug to confirm it is snapped firmly in place.

Adjust harness
Adjust the buckles to fit your infant comfortably, then slide the shoulder strap covers on.
A properly fitted harness allows two fingers between the strap and your infant's chest — snug but not restrictive.

Remove wedge
When your infant no longer needs the wedge, switch to the upper Infant Soft Insert harness slots to accommodate their growth.
Remove the wedge at 3 months or when your infant begins to sit upright on their own.

Remove Infant Soft Insert
Pull the seat bottom, waist, and shoulder straps out through the Infant Soft Insert slots, then remove the Infant Soft Insert entirely.
