SmartBins are open-topped, so you can drop gear in and pull it out freely. The bin's walls hold the load, and a bungee keeps it in place on the move (two come with the Hauler, and the Bungee Kit adds a longer pair for stacks two- and three-high). If you want a lid, the Tabletop for SmartBin does the job while giving you a surface to set things on. Nothing about the bin requires one: bins nest and stack three high with or without it, empty or packed.
