Using your &Bike E-Bike Rear Hub Motor Mounting Kit (Ø12mm Axle)

Follow these steps to install the E-Bike Rear Hub Motor Mounting Kit. Install one adapter at a time, repeating steps 1–4 for each side.
Remove nuts
Remove the axle nut from the rear hub motor axle.
Remove washer
Remove the torque washer from the axle. Set it aside — you will not reuse it, but keep it in case you ever remove the dropout adapter.
Install dropout adapter
Slide the dropout adapter onto the axle. The adapter's tab fits into the fork dropouts and the dropout boss faces the back of the bike.
Replace nut
Replace the axle nut and tighten to a torque of 40 N‑m (29.5 ft‑lb). A torque wrench is recommended to reach this specification accurately.
✓ Confirm the dropout adapter is seated firmly and the tab is fully engaged in the fork dropout.
Install second dropout adapter
Repeat steps 1–4 to install the second adapter on the opposite side of the axle. Both dropout adapters (one per side) are included in the kit.
Install rack to dropout adapters
Attach the rack to your e-bike using the &Bike Bicycle Adapter for Veer Switchback System User Guide.

This kit works with one specific e-bike setup. Run through these three checks before purchasing or installing.
✓ Your e-bike has a rear hub motor
The motor must be built into the rear wheel hub. This kit does not work with mid-drive motors (motor located at the crank/pedals) or front hub motors.
Not sure? If you can see the motor in the center of your rear wheel and the axle is noticeably thicker than a standard bike axle, you likely have a rear hub motor.
✓ Your axle is Ø12mm and threaded (QR-style)
The axle must be a Ø12mm threaded quick-release style — meaning it is secured by a nut that threads onto the axle end. This kit is not compatible with thru-axle e-bikes, even if the thru-axle measures 12mm in diameter.
Not sure of your axle type or size? Check your e-bike's owner manual or bring the bike to your local bike shop — they can confirm the axle spec in seconds.
✓ You also have the &Bike Bicycle Adapter
This kit installs the dropout adapters that the &Bike Bicycle Adapter (sold separately) mounts to. You need both to attach a Switchback seat to your e-bike. If you only have this kit, order the &Bike Bicycle Adapter before beginning installation.

What's not covered
A repair issue will not be covered by this warranty if:
- The issue is caused by misuse or improper/poor maintenance. Please refer to this instruction booklet for guidance on use and Switchback assembly and use.
- Damage is corrosion, mold, or rust caused by a lack of maintenance or service.
- Damage is due to general wear and tear resulting from everyday use or negligence.
- Damage is caused by sun intensity, sweat, detergents, damp storage, or frequent washing.
- Repairs or modifications are carried out by a third party.
- This Switchback accessory is purchased from an unauthorized retailer. Approved retailers are listed at goveer.com.
- This Switchback accessory is second-hand.
- This Switchback accessory is damaged as a result of an accident, airline, or freight damage.
